Kenny Construction Gets in the Game with Blackhawks Construction Helmet Giveaway

Northbrook, IL (March 10, 2009) –  Kenny Construction, a national contractor and construction manager, had a major presence at a recent Chicago Blackhawks game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  Kenny Construction sponsored the Feb. 27 game day giveaway by giving out helmets to the first 10,000 fans at the game.  The red hard hats showcased the Kenny Construction and Blackhawks logos, and the timing of the giveaway couldn’t have been more appropriate for the historical game.

During the second period of the Chicago Blackhawks game, Kenny Construction hard hats were front and center on the ice rink after Jonathan Toews scored Chicago's first three goals for his first career hat trick.  “Hat trick” is a term used in hockey when a player scores three goals during a game.

Friday night’s hat trick display is standard practice in the NHL.  When a player scores a hat trick, it is tradition for the fans to toss their hats on to the ice in appreciation of the play.  The hundreds of Kenny Construction helmets on the ice that evening proved to be no exception.

The giveaway by Kenny Construction – which has been family owned and operated for over 80 years – and subsequent hat trick celebration were captured by numerous news outlets, including Crain’s Chicago Business and Comcast SportsNet.

“Kenny Construction has always been a huge supporter of Chicago sports, and we are thrilled that we had the opportunity to sponsor our first ever Blackhawks game on such a big night,” said Philip Kenny, Executive Vice President of Kenny Construction.

Kenny Construction has long supported Chicago-area sports teams, including its regular involvement with the Chicago Bears charity, Bears Care.  The company is also very excited about the prospect of its home town hosting the Olympics in 2016.
