BUFFALO GROVE ROAD

Kenny Construction was awarded the Buffalo Grove Road and Indian Creek Bridge project in December 2006, by the Illinois Department of Transportation.  The project is located on Buffalo Grove Road over Indian Creek in Vernon Hills and extends into Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

The project includes the removal of the entire bridge superstructure, widening the substructure, and construction of a new three span concrete deck on steel beams.  The final bridge configuration will consist of two 12 foot lanes, two 14 foot shoulders, a 16 foot median, a 14 foot bike path and a 5 foot sidewalk.  Barrier railing will be constructed between the roadway and the bike path/sidewalk.

In addition, Kenny will reconstruct Buffalo Grove Road approximately 230 feet south and 460 feet north of the bridge over Indian Creek to accommodate the change in profile due to the bridge deck being raised approximately 12 inches. Buffalo Grove Road will be widened to a three lane cross section with two 12 foot wide travel lanes and a 16 foot wide median. Mechanically stabilized earth walls will be built to allow widening of the road.

The project required Kenny to keep Buffalo Grove Road open to traffic during construction.
