GBMS
Kenny Construction Company announced the signing of a design/build contract implementing the "Global Building Monitoring System (GBMS)" with the City of Chicago through its Department of General Services. The term of the Agreement is 10 years, with the option for the City to extend the contract an additional 5 years.
The basic description and goals of GBMS include:
- Design, furnish, deliver, install, maintain and operate a global, building-monitoring and control system. The ultimate goal is to connect over 300 City buildings into one system. The work includes connecting energy management systems, fire controls, security, life-safety equipment, and other facility specific equipment and devices to an Operations Control Center (OCC) for remote monitoring and control purposes
- Install Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) through the installation of energy efficient devices and designs in City facilities, including improvement of building automation systems or installation of alternate technologies
- Implement security system improvements in City facilities in furthering the goal of efficiency in the operation and management of City facilities
The scope of the project spans all City facilities and will begin as soon as the City issues the first Task Order. The work will be performed by Kenny Construction's Energy Solutions group.
Department of Procurement Services (DPS) received six responses to its Request for Proposals, and Kenny Construction Company was deemed to have provided the best response and to be the contractor most likely to meet City's goals and budget.
