METRA - PINGREE STATION
OWNER: Metra
LOCATION: Crystal Lake, IL
VALUE: $7.6 Million
Kenny Construction Company provided construction administration services for the construction of the Pingree Road Station on The Union Pacific Northwest Line, in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
The station included the construction of a pedestrian tunnel under the existing two track Union Pacific mainline, ADA accessible ramps to the platform level, a 2,000 square foot station depot with space for a future vendor and ticket agent, and commuter parking lots with 400 spaces.
The Kenny team took over the construction administration services at the Pingree Road station just after rough site grading, and placement of the precast tunnel sections had been completed, the structural concrete for the retaining walls and station foundations were only 35% complete. The Kenny team assigned to the project, over the period of a week reviewed the construction documentation and the construction progress to develop an overall understanding of the project requirements and issues.
By quickly getting up to speed on the project we transitioned the construction administration services with a minimal learning curve period, which allowed the construction to continue without missing a beat. The Kenny team worked closely with the general contractor to coordinate the work of the contractor with the work performed by Union Pacific forces.
The station reached substantial completion on August 1, 2005, and the station dedication was held on September 7, 2005.
