LEXINGTON PARK
Located at 2138 S. Indiana Avenue in Chicago, Lexington Park Condominiums will be a 35-story residential building connected to a 7-story residential building by a block long 6-story parking garage with retail on the ground level. When completed it will contain 333 private residences. The project will take two years to construct. Currently it is in the foundation phase of the work.
The project is designated a "green" building within the Chicago LEED system because of its use of recycled materials, renewable materials and energy efficient design. The structure is primarily concrete and the facade will be aluminum and blue-green glass windows with matching aluminum slab edge covers. Aluminum and glass balcony railings will compliment the window system. Enclosing the garage levels will be a "channel glass" system made up of horizontally oriented structural glass channels to give the building a modernistic appearance. The sixth floor of the garage will be a landscaped terrace with extensive plantings and trees - a "green" roof.
Kenny Construction is the General Contractor. Chieftain Construction based in Limerick, Ireland is the developer and owner. VOA Architects is the architectural firm. This is Kenny Construction's first project with both entities. The preconstruction phase of the project extended over one year in duration, giving Kenny time to build a solid relationship with both companies.
